01Who is responsible
The Leash Syndicate decides what happens to the personal data described here. Everything in this policy, and every request under it, goes to support@TheLeashSyndicate.com.
We are not a data broker. We collect what we need to sell you pet gear and answer your email, and very little beyond that.
02What we collect
What you hand us: your name, email address and message when you use the contact form; your email address when you join the pack; and your order details — items, delivery address, and a phone number if the carrier needs one.
What the shop needs: the contents of your bag, saved on your own device so it is still there when you come back.
What arrives on its own: basic technical details such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visited. We use these to keep the site running and to spot abuse, not to follow you around the internet.
03What we use it for
To take your order, pack it, ship it, and tell you when it moves.
To reply when you write to us, and to fix a problem with an item.
To keep the pack list and send the emails you asked for.
To keep the site working: spotting bots, fake orders and people trying to break things.
To improve the range — which gear people actually buy, which sizes people return.
04The legal ground
We rely on three things: doing what you asked for (a contract — you bought something or wrote to us), a legitimate interest in running a shop that is not broken or full of fraud, and your consent for marketing emails and for the quiz answers you type into the fit finder.
Consent can be withdrawn at any moment by emailing support@TheLeashSyndicate.com. Nothing stops you changing your mind.
05Payment data
Card numbers, expiry dates and security codes are handled by Shopify and its payment providers. They never reach us and we could not retrieve them if we tried.
We keep the record that you paid and what you bought — not how you paid.
06The fit finder
When you answer the fit finder quiz, your answers are sent to an AI service we use so it can pick gear that suits your pet and write the verdict you see.
The answers describe your pet, not your identity, and no human decision about you is made that way. If you would rather not use it, the whole catalogue is still there to browse.
07Who else sees it
Shopify, which runs the store, the checkout and the payments. Shipping carriers, so a parcel can reach your door. Partner brands whose gear you bought through Shopify Collective — only the details they need to make and ship your item. Our hosting and database platform, which stores the contact messages and pack list. An email service, when we send the emails you signed up for.
Each of them is limited to doing the job we hired them for.
We do not sell your data, rent it out, or hand it to advertising brokers. Full stop.
08Cookies and tracking
This site does not load advertising or social-media trackers of its own. Your bag is stored locally on your device, and a small technical flag lets the site notice when a new version has been published.
When you reach Shopify's checkout, Shopify and its payment providers set their own cookies. Those are theirs, governed by their policy, and they are what keep your card details away from us.
09Where it is stored
Our servers sit inside the European Union. Some of the services we rely on — Shopify above all — process data outside the EU, including in Canada and the United States.
When your data leaves, the same protections travel with it: the standard contractual clauses and the safeguards each provider publishes.
10How long we keep it
Contact messages: until you ask us to delete them.
Pack signups: until you unsubscribe or tell us to remove you.
Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them.
Security logs: a short time, then they are gone.
11How we protect it
Everything moves over encrypted connections, access to the data is limited to the people and systems that genuinely need it, and we do not keep copies lying around in places they are not needed.
No system on the internet is perfect and we will not pretend ours is. If anything ever goes wrong in a way that touches you, we will tell you.
12Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it while we check a complaint, object to processing that relies on our legitimate interest, and ask for your data in a portable form. Where we relied on consent, you can take it back.
One email to support@TheLeashSyndicate.com does all of it. We may ask you to confirm it is really your address before we answer, and we will reply within a month.
If you are unhappy with how we handled it, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country. We would rather you emailed us first.
13Children
This shop is for adults. Anyone under 16 should send us nothing, and buying is 18 and over — the same rule as in our terms.
14Changes to this policy
We can update it. The date at the top moves when we do, and if a change matters to you we will say so plainly rather than bury it.
15Talk to us
A copy of your data, a deletion, a question, or a line in here you want explained: support@TheLeashSyndicate.com. One person reads it, and that person can fix it.
